Natalie Anne Gulbis is an American golfer of Latvian descent. She professionally plays on the United States-based Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, and she developed a very early interest in golf.
Natalie Gulbis was born and raised in the Sacramento, California area. She started to become interested in the game when she was 4 years old. When she was 7, she won her first tournament, and was breaking par records by the age of 10. She competed in her first LPGA tour in 1997 as an amateur golfer when she was 14, at a handicap of 2.
Gulbis was also the best player on the boys' golf team when she attended Granite Bay High School, and she graduated when she was 16. Later, she accepted a scholarship for golf at the University of Arizona. After just one season at Arizona, Natalie Gulbis left college to begin her professional career in 2001 at 18 years old.
She did not win any tournaments until her sixth season, where she finished sixth in the LPGA money list with over $1 million in earnings for 2005. She then placed in the top 10 at four consecutive championships from the 2005 LPGA Championship to the 2006 Kraft Nabisco Championship.
