"Musica Urbana" is a 59-minute hip-hop album of songs by Hispanic and Puerto Rican rappers. Released on March 22, 2005, it is an influential collection of songs that revealed the new, eclectic styles of hip-hop that were beginning to emerge during the mid-2000s.
The full title of Musica Urbana is "Musica Urbana: Lo Mejor de Hip-Hop en Espanol." In English, the title translates to "Urban Music: The Best of Hip-Hop in Spanish." A follow-up album released on April 4, 2006, is entitled "Musica Urbana: Volume 2." The term "Musica Urbana" has come to represent many forms of urban music sung or rapped in Spanish.
