In "One Night in the Tropics," Abbott and Costello play two men hired by the underwriter of an unusual insurance policy. "In The Navy" is about a famous singer who decides to lay low by joining the Navy, only to be discovered by a reporter. "Hold That Ghost" casts the duo as unlikely heirs to the fortune of a gangster. The movie focuses on their search for an inheritance left in a seemingly haunted tavern. In "Ride 'Em Cowboy," the pair take up as cowboys despite their lack of related experience.
"Buck Privates" is set in an army boot camp, where the two protagonists have enlisted in order to avoid jail time. In "The Noose Hangs High," a case of mistaken identity leads to confusion and comedy. "Lost in Alaska" is about two men who save the life of a prospector, only to be accused of murdering him.
