"Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" won the Oscar for Best Picture at the 2015 Academy Awards. The film also won Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography. It received five other nominations including Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Sound Editing.
Mexican filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu directed the dark comedy-drama, which starred Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Zach Galifianakis, Naomi Watts and Edward Norton. As of 2015, the movie holds a critic rating of 92 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Some of the other films that "Birdman" beat out for Best Picture were "American Sniper," "Boyhood," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Selma" and "Whiplash."
