Movie auditions are sample performances done by actors in front of industry professionals. The audition is usually a systematic process in which casting directors and producers choose one actor for a movie role from a number of actors.
Auditions sometimes take the form of screen tests in the movie industry; these are held to see how each actor looks on screen. At a screen test, an actor stands on a mark on the floor and performs in view of the camera as well as everyone in the room clearly. Actors typically also provide their headshots and resumes at an audition.
