"Mother Earth News" is an American bi-monthly magazine, based in Topeka, Kansas. It offers expert editorial coverage of country living, green transportation, renewable energy, green building, natural health and organic foods. It also talks about environmental problems from a practical standpoint.
"Mother Earth News" was established by John and Jane Shuttleworth on a budget of $1,500. The first issue was published in January 1970 from their home. It supported the renewed interest in the back-to-the-land movement at the beginning of the 1970s and integrated it with an interest in the ecology movement and self-sufficiency. "Mother Earth News" celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2010, and the February-March issue included articles from the past 40 years.
