On Oct. 28, 2015, Ethiopian authorities arrested Memehir Girma in the capital city Addis Ababa and placed him under investigation. As of January 2016, he is suspected of fraud for earning a large sum of money performing fake exorcisms. Many videos of his rituals and exorcisms appear in YouTube videos.

Memehir Girma was born in Bale, Ethiopia in 1958. In 1969, Girma was ordained by Abune Mekariosat at St. Michael Church in Bale Goba. Girma claims that he received a spiritual gift from God to identify evil spirits by taking Communion often.
