The annual Maryland State Fair is held at the end of the summer at Timonium Fairgrounds. The dates vary by year, and upcoming dates are posted on the Fair's website, MarylandStateFair.com.
The Maryland State Fair runs for 11 days and draws a half-million visitors each year. The Fair includes livestock and horse shows, demonstration and exhibit halls, rides and games, live thoroughbred horse races, and concerts in addition to state delicacies, such as crab cakes. Since 1879, the Maryland State Fair has been educating the public about agriculture. It features cow milking lessons and the popular Birthing Center, where visitors witness the hatching of chicks and the birth of calves and piglets.
