Matthew Pavlich doesn't write about retirement in his 2015 autobiography "Purple Heart." The book does contain a sentence wherein Pavlich refers to players on the team as "ex-Dockers teammates," which some news outlets interpreted as a clue that Pavlich planned to retire when he wrote the book.
Born on Dec. 31, 1981, Pavlich began his career with the Australian Football League's Fremantle Football Club, nicknamed the Dockers, in 2000. "Purple Heart" describes Pavlich's career with the team, including the struggles at the beginning, offers from rival clubs and the team eventually becoming more successful. Pavlich set multiple club records at Fremantle, including most games played and most goals scored.
