The average novel contains between 140 and 320 pages, according to Kopek Publishing. This consists of 35,000 to 80,000 words. Short stories and children's books average only 10 to 20 pages. Saga-class novels contain an average of 300 to 600 pages, or up to 150,000 words.
The number of pages in a book depends on the font type, the font size and the page size. If a book uses a 10-point font, it will have more pages than a book with the same amount of words that uses an 8-point font. Because of the subjective nature of fonts and paper size, books are typically judged by word count over page count.
