The 2016 Monster Jam begins January 1st in Des Moines, Iowa and ends on November 12th in Rockford, Illinois. The event stops in 42 of the contiguous United States and five provinces in Canada. New trucks, drivers and tours were added to the lineup for 2016 season. As of 2014, Monster Jam was seen by 4,000,000 fans in almost 40 international cities, according to Feld Motor Sports.
Monster Jam events blend racing and showmanship into an action-packed live show. The pre-show, Party in the Pits, allows fans on the racetrack for autographs and photographs before the live show. Pit passes are purchased separately and do not include entrance to the show. The show includes side-by-side racing and individual freestyle competitions.
There are 99 Monster Jam trucks and 115 drivers divided into eight teams. The lineup varies in each city. Monster Jam trucks stand 12 feet tall and 12 feet wide and weigh about five tons. The 66-inch tires and specialized suspension systems help drivers withstand high-impact performances and various track conditions. A typical Monster Jam track contains 7,500 tons of dirt and requires 1,500 man hours to build and remove.Learn more about Art & Literature
