When Was the Mall of America Built?

Construction on the Mall of America started in 1989 and was concluded in 1992. It is located in Bloomington, Minn. and was designed by the Triple Five Group.

The Mall of America complex covers an area of 4,870,000 square feet, with 2,500,000 square feet used as retail space. The mall is so large that the interior could house 43 Boeing 747s, 9 Yankee Stadiums, or 347 Statues of Liberty. The original cost to build the mall was $625 million dollars. In March 2014, ground was broken on a $325 million expansion of the Mall of America. The expansion includes a 325-room hotel, underground valet parking and an additional 50 to 75 retail outlets.
