In terms of total paid subscriptions, the top two consumer magazines in the United States as of June 2014 were AARP The Magazine and AARP Bulletin, both published and distributed by AARP. Better Homes and Gardens, from Meredith Corp., was number three, followed by Game Informer Magazine at number four.
Meredith publishes many other popular magazines, including Parents and Family Circle, which was fifth on the 2014 list, while Hearst Magazine's Good Housekeeping came in at number five. National Geographic Magazine, published by the National Geographic Society, had the next-largest subscriber base, followed by People, a product of Time, Inc. Time also publishes Sports Illustrated and Time magazine, which helped make the company the top revenue-earning magazine publisher of 2009, with total sales of $1.6 billion that year. Meredith was next, with a total subscription revenue of $800 million.
In terms of individual magazines sold, Woman's World and First for Women, both published and distributed by Bauer Publishing, were number one and number two in 2014, followed by Cosmopolitan, another offering from Hearst. People and Family Circle were next on the list, followed by US Weekly, from Wenner Media. Game Informer Magazine was tops in digital circulation, with nearly 2.9 million digital replicas published that year.
