Who Is M.C. Beaton?

M.C. Beaton is a pen name used by British mystery and romance writer Marion Gibbons. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Gibbons has written several mystery novels under the name, including the "Agatha Raisin" and the "Hamish Macbeth" series.

The "Agatha Raisin" series follows Agatha Raisin, a retired advertising executive, who moves to the Cotswolds and begins to solve murders. The "Hamish Macbeth" series is about Hamish Macbeth, a Highland village policeman without ambition, who uses his wit to solve crimes.

Marion Gibbions has many pseudonyms, including Ann Fairfax, Charlotte Ward, Helen Crampton, Jennie Tremaine and Sarah Chester. She has also used her maiden name, Marion Chesney, to write historical romance novels, including the "Daughters of Mannerling" and the "Traveling Matchmaker" series.
