La Gazetta dello Sport is an Italian sports newspaper that has been in print since April 1896. The newspaper covered the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece.
The newspaper's first issue featured a framed announcement of Milan-Monza-Lecco-Erba race. The paper was first published in its iconic pink color in 1899 and became a daily newspaper in 1913. Gazetta dello Sport has also organized many sports events, including the first Giro d'Italia or Tour of Italy, a cycling stage race, which first began in 1909. The newspaper is headquartered in Milan and is most prominent for its soccer coverage, which spans around 24 to 28 out of 40 pages daily.
