Danielle Steel published her first novel, "Going Home," in 1973 and an additional 24 novels before 1990, including "Season of Passion," "Summer's End," "To Love Again," Once in a Lifetime," "Fine Things" and "Daddy." She often releases more than one book each year. For example, in 1984, she published the poetry collection "Love: Poems," the non-fiction book "Having a Baby" and the novel "Full Circle."

She published 22 novels during the 1990s, including "Jewels," "Vanished," "Wings," "Lightning," "Special Delivery" and "Irresistible Forces." She published nine books between 1994 and 1999. In 1998, Steel published "His Bright Light," a book about her son, Nick Traina, who committed suicide in 1997 after several years of abusing drugs and receiving treatment for manic depression. This book also includes sections from Traina's journals.

Between 2000 and 2010, she published 30 books, including "The Kiss," "Sunset in St. Tropaz," "Safe Harbour," "The House," "Honor Thyself" and "Southern Lights."
