Fox has ordered a TV series reboot of the "Lethal Weapon" movie franchise from Warner Brothers Television. As of October 2015, the TV series is in the put-pilot stage, as reported by Rolling Stone.
In the TV version of this buddy cop movie, Danny Glover's character, Roger Murtaugh, is a detective who avoids stress after suffering a minor heart attack. On the other hand, Mel Gibson's character, Martin Riggs, is an ex-Texas cop and Navy SEAL who relocates to Los Angeles after losing his wife and baby. The roles of Murtaugh and Riggs are yet uncast as of Nov. 2015.
The first Lethal Weapon movie was released in 1987. With a budget of $15 million, it pulled in box office receipts of $120 million. It was a critical and commercial success. It spawned three more sequels: 1989's "Lethal Weapon 2," 1992's "Lethal Weapon 3" and 1998's "Lethal Weapon 4."
