As of October 2015, there is no officially appointed lead writer for the British soap opera “Coronation Street.” Martin Allen, Joe Turner, Debbie Oates, Jonathan Harvey and Damon Rochefort are some members of the 2015 writing team at “Coronation Street.”
Since its premiere in 1960, “Coronation Street” has had numerous writers, including Adele Rose, John Fay, Leslie Duxbury, John Stevenson and Peter Whalley. Rose has written 455 scripts for the show, more than any other writer as of 2015. John Fay has written 94 episodes for the show. He also served as the lead writer before leaving the show in 2007. He shared the British Academy Television Award with the show’s producer and director for best continuing drama in 2005.
