Laura Vitale is a self-taught cook and a host of the interactive cooking show called “Laura in the Kitchen.” She also has her own website, LauraInTheKitchen.com, where visitors can peruse hundreds of recipes and watch video content for each recipe hosted on her YouTube channel.
Vitale was born in Italy, where she lived for 12 years before moving to the United States with her family. When she was a young teen, her grandmother taught her recipes for traditional Italian dishes, which inspired her love for cooking. As a teenager, she started working in restaurants that her father owned, but she lost her job as a cook in 2008 when her father closed down the restaurants due to the poor economic circumstances. In 2010, Laura continued her culinary career by starting her online cooking show.
As of 2015, her YouTube channel has nearly 2 million subscribers and hosts more than 950 episodes. With the partnership of the Clarkson Potter imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, she authored a cookbook called “Laura in the Kitchen,” which includes 110 new recipes and is scheduled for release during the fall of 2015. The episodes that Vitale produces for her YouTube channel typically run between five and 15 minutes, and users can access them through various categories, including appetizers, snacks and desserts, or by perusing a list of the most popular recipes on the channel, some of which have more than 3 million views.
