With a net worth of about $35 million as 2014, Kandi Burruss’ success in business is founded on her work in the music industry. A former member of Xscape turned record producer, Burruss has written hit songs for major recording artists such as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Usher, Alicia Keys, Boyz II Men and TLC.
Perhaps better known now for her appearances in Bravo’s reality televisions shows such as “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and “The Kandi Factory” and her online program “Kandi Koated Nights,” Kandi Burruss started in business as a teenage singer with the R&B group Xscape. After the group disbanded in 2000, Burruss turned her hand to songwriting and producing, winning the ASCAP “Songwriter of the Year” award in 2000. She has written hit songs for Whitney Houston, Usher and others that have sold over 60 million records worldwide.
Since then, Burruss has used her success on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” to create and produce “The Kandi Factory,” her own show on Bravo, her online talk show “Kandi Koated Nights” and a top-selling iTunes app called “Kandi Koated Spades.” She also owns two speciality boutiques – T.A.G.S. and T.A.G.S.II – in Atlanta. Burruss has won or been nominated for several Adult Video News design awards for her innovative line of adult novelty and pleasure products designed for women.
