Jeff Chandler was born on December 15, 1918, in Brooklyn, New York, as Ira Grossel. The actor was famous for his roles in "The Plunderers," "A Stranger in My Arms" and "Broken Arrow." The latter of which earned him a Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
His prematurely graying hair helped him stand out amongst the actors of his day. Although he is known for his acting roles, Jeff Chandler was also a professional singer. He died on June 17, 1961, at the age of 42 from complications after surgery for a slipped disk. The official cause of death was blood poisoning.
