Jackie Guerrido is a television weather forecaster and journalist. She was born on Sep. 24, 1972, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Guerrido grew up there until she moved with her family to New York City after graduating from high school.
Guerrido's mother was mistreated by her father; therefore, at the age of 7, Guerrido and her mother had to seek for help at a domestic violence shelter in San Juan called Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos. She later moved to the Bronx in New York City to study acting and production.
In 1996, Guerrido attended open auditions for the film "Selena." She was discovered by a producer who heard her doing a voice-over and offered her a position on WSKQ's morning show "El Vacilon de la Mañana" in New York City. In 1997, Guerrido accepted an offer from WRMA and moved to Miami. She officially joined the HBC Radio Company and worked at "Romance" for a year. She also studied journalism and later meteorology at the University of Miami.
Univision took notice of Guerrido and made her an offer to become a weather reporter. For several years, Guerrido presented the daily weather on "Despierta America."
In 2010 she finished in second place with over nine million votes in the Spanish version of "Dancing with the Stars," called "Mira Quien Baila." The show’s finale aired on Nov. 21, 2010, and Guerrido was awarded $10,000 which she donated to the Casa Protegida Julia de Burgos.
