Some of Iris Johansen's books include "The Lady and the Unicorn," "The Golden Barbarian" and "The Face of Deception." Her most recent book as of December 2015 is "Shadow Play."
Johansen's first books were category romances such as "The Lady and the Unicorn." Game warden Janna Cannon is desperate to save her wild animals when the animal reserve loses its land. When she breaks into the estate of billionaire Rafe Santine to convince him to provide land, he agrees – in exchange for her.
Johansen changed to historic romance with "The Golden Barbarian." Tess Rubinoff, a Balkan princess, is only 12 when Sheikh Galen Ben Rashid rescues her. Six years later, they marry; she wants freedom from her abusive father, and he wants her kingdom so he has the power to unify the tribes of Sedikhan. He takes her to his desert country, where the romance begins.
Johansen switched to contemporary mystery with the Eve Duncan series. In "The Face of Deception," Eve copes with her daughter's disappearance by immersing herself in her work of rebuilding faces from bone fragments. When billionaire John Logan commissions her to rebuild a face, it is someone no one was meant to know about.
