Bandari dance, Bojnordi dance, Choob Bazi, Haj Naranji dance and Jaheli are some Iranian dances. Iran has a rich history of dance but, as of 2015, it is clouded by the political situation and is unknown to the outside world.
Dance has been an important religious ritual and social phenomenon in Iranian culture. Ancient Iran has played a key role in the development, advancement and expansion of dance as an art form. Since the revolution in 1979, the art form has been prohibited in Iran. Baba Karam, Khaliji dance, Kereshmeh dance, Raghs-e Parcheh and Shamshir dance are some other examples of popular Iranian dances.
