The Muppets Elmo, Grover and Count von Count are also popular "Sesame Street" characters. Human characters on "Sesame Street" include the music teacher Bob, the married couple Gordon and Susan, and Maria, who first appeared on the show as a teenager in 1971 and grew up to become the co-owner of the Fix-It Shop on the show.
