The hang drum is a flying saucer shaped musical percussion instrument developed by Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer at the Swiss Company PANArt in 2000. It is played by resting the instrument on the lap and tapping it with hands and fingers around its bowl.
The hang instrument has had four generations of releases, as of 2015: the first generation in 2000, the second generation in 2006, the integral hang in 2008 and the free integral hang in 2010. At the end of 2013, PANArt stopped making any more hangs, focusing on a new musical sculpture called the Gubal. It is no longer available for purchase.
