Gospel songs by Jimmy Swaggart include "Jesus Got A Hold Of My Life," "I Shall Never Forget The Day," "The Great Physician" and "He The Pearly Gates Will Open." These songs appear on his album, "How About your Heart." Reverend Swaggart has sold more than 6 million gospel CDs around the world, as of 2015.
Swaggart was born in Ferriday, Louisiana, on March 15, 1935. He joined his father's ministry in 1952 and 10 years later recorded his first album of gospel music, "God Took Away My Yesterdays." Its success led Swaggart to release a new album every year, including "There Is a River" and "This Is Just What Heaven Means to Me." In the 1970s, he premiered "The Jimmy Swaggart Telecast" on PTL Network. It became one of the highest-rated religious programs in the country.
In 1987, Swaggart's credentials as minister at Assemblies of God were revoked due to a scandal involving prostitutes. Since then, he reestablished himself as a minister with the help of his son, Donnie. Together, they oversee his Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Swaggart performs gospel songs at the Family Worship Center with other singers, musicians and choirs of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. His music can be seen on SonLife Broadcasting Network.
