One example of a poem that shows care for a mother is "To My Mother" by Christina Rossetti. Another example is "Mother o' Mine" by Rudyard Kipling.
"To My Mother" is a simple poem for a mother's birthday. This poem was written by Christina Rossetti when she was 11 year of age and was her very first poem. The first several lines in the poem are:
"To-day’s your natal day,
Sweet flowers I bring;
Mother, accept, I pray,
"Mother o' Mine" is a short poem about how a mother's love follows her children to the darkest and scariest of places. This poem was published in 1891 and was the dedication in Rudyard Kipling's novel "The Light that Failed."
Edgar Allen Poe also wrote a poem titled "To My Mother." This poem was published in 1849 and is about how Poe's mother died young, but her spirit lives on. It also details the love he has for the mother of his wife who is most beloved to him. The end of the poem goes as follows:
Are mother to the one I loved so dearly,
And thus are dearer than the mother I knew
By that infinity with which my wife
Was dearer to my soul than its soul-life."
