Narrative writing is writing that tells a story. Generally, narrative writing is fact based but retains many of the elements common to fiction writing. Narrative writing has a beginning, middle and end, and the piece includes a plot in the form of a logical progression of events. A piece of narrative writing tends to include more sensory details than essay writing, and generally also involves a lesson or insight about the narrator.
