The early "The Young and the Restless" revolved around two core families: the wealthy Brooks family and the working class Foster family. In the early 1980s, all the original characters left the show, and the new core families were introduced: the Abbotts and the Williamses. Other families were also introduced later as the show continued, including the Newmans, the Winters and the Baldwin-Fishers. However, despite these changes, the storyline stayed the same throughout the entire run of the show, which is the feud between Jill Abbott and Katherine Chancellor. On Sep. 27, 2012, "The Young and the Restless" celebrated its milestone 10,000th episode.
