"Freddy vs.Jason 2" was the proposed sequel to 2003's "Freddy vs. Jason," which featured the battle between iconic horror villains Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees. Originally, the sequel was known as "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash" because it was meant to feature Sam Raimi's "Evil Dead" hero, Ashley J. Williams. As of 2015, the project remains undeveloped, and no such film exists.
New Line Cinema began developing a sequel to "Freddy vs. Jason" after the first film was highly successful at the box office in 2003. The studio intended to work with Raimi on bringing "Evil Dead"'s Ash into the franchise.
The story involved Ash using a new and improved chainsaw to battle both "Friday the 13th"'s masked slasher Jason and "Nightmare on Elm Street"'s Freddy, who can manipulate Jason's mind.
Following the success of Raimi's 2004 remake of "The Grudge," he abandoned his plans to make "Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash" and opted to remake the original "Evil Dead" film instead.
The project was shelved until 2013 when "Friday the 13th" creator Sean Cunningham stated that there would be another "Friday the 13th" film and a sequel to "Freddy vs. Jason" within five years. The plot of any future sequels remains unknown.
