"The Following" is a television series starring Kevin Beacon as FBI agent Ryan Hardy. The dramatic crime series focuses on Ryan Hardy's attempt to recapture serial killer, Joe Carroll. Things get complicated when a network of Joe Carroll followers begin to grow and new serial killers are born.
Main cast members on the show include Shawn Ashmore, Jessica Stroup, Sam Underwood and Valerie Curry. James Purefoy plays the role of serial killer Joe Carroll, and Natalie Zea plays the role of Claire Matthews, Joe Carrol's ex-wife. Other prominent cast members include Annie Parisse, head investigator of Joe Carroll and his growing cult, and Kyle Catlett as Joe and Claire's son.
"The Following" first aired on FOX on Jan. 21, 2013. The show lasted a total of three seasons, with its final episode airing on May 18, 2015. The show was created by Kevin Williamson, whose intention was to create a gory, controversial show with a lead character who had similar qualities to those of Jack Bauer.
Kevin Beacon won the 2013 Saturn Award for best actor on television, for his lead role on the show, and the show itself was nominated for several Saturn awards and one People's Choice award.
