FEARnet did offer free streaming horror movies online until Comcast took full ownership of the brand in April 2014 and folded it into its NBCUniversal Cable division. As of July 2015, much of the content is expected to be picked up by the Chiller, while some could move to SyFy.
FEARnet debuted Oct. 31, 2006, as a television network that also offered video on demand and streaming content online. It began as a three-way partnership between Comcast, Sony and Lionsgate. NBCUniversal launched Chiller four months after signing onto the deal.
FEARnet's former official website now redirects to ChillerTV.com. The final status update on FEARnet's Facebook page reads "RIP 10/31/2006 - 7/30/2014."
