Studios do not follow any set schedule for announcing movies, and they announce some movies several years in advance. In 2014, Marvel announced nine movies with premiere dates spanning from 2016 to 2019. That same year, Warner Brothers announced 10 movies with planned release dates as late as 2020.
Some have noted a trend of studios providing early announcements of comic book movies in particular. The Warner Brothers announcement, for instance, was of upcoming movies set in the D.C. Comics universe. The studio also announced in 2014 the 2018 premiere date for "Godzilla 2," another movie studios expected to generate buzz.
