A young and unknown Leonardo DiCaprio did commercials for both Bubble Yum bubble gum, in the late 1980s, and Kraft cheese slices in 1991.
George Clooney has done commercials in Japan for Toyota, while Charlize Theron also appeared in Japanese commercials as a spokesperson for the rival company, Honda, in a 2002 commercial. Charlize Theron also represented the Lux beauty brand from 2003 to 2004. Actress Anne Hathaway represented Lux in 2002 and 2003 commercials. Veteran actor Sean Connery did commercials in Japan during the 1980s and 1990s. He promoted various items such as Mazda cars, Regno automobile tires, Japanese scotch and even a brand of Japanese ham.
