Some fall festivals in North Georgia are Oktoberfest, the Georgia Apple Festival and the Blue Ridge Blues and BBQ Music Festival. Other fall festivals include Gold Rush Days and the North Georgia State Fair.
Oktoberfest takes place in Helen, Georgia, and is the longest-running Oktoberfest celebration in the United States. For six weeks a year, from the middle of September to the first week of November, the town celebrates Bavarian culture with traditional Marzen brew and German-style bands.
The Georgia Apple Festival takes place in the cities of Ellijay and East Ellijay. The event features over 300 vendors with handmade, hand-crafted items, as well as many on-site demonstrations of how selected types of crafts are made. There is an antique car show held at the Civic Center and a parade in downtown Ellijay.
The Blue Ridge Blues and BBQ Music Festival is a one-day festival held in the town of Blue Ridge. Local and regional barbecue experts prepare food, and the festival features live performances throughout the day.
Gold Rush Days is a celebration of the Georgia Gold Rush, the first in American history. The event draws over 300 arts-and-crafts exhibitors. The festival lasts two days and includes a parade, children’s activities, a fashion show and a gold panning contest.
