Some examples of textile art include weaving and fabric dying. Other examples are embroider, quilting and knitting. Other types of arts and crafts that use fabric or natural fibers to make decorative items also fall into the category of textile arts.
Textile arts are among the oldest in human civilization, as there is evidence that people have been decorating clothing fabric for almost as long as they have been wearing clothes themselves. However, examples of textile art are not relegated to things that people wear. Creators also use this form of art for household goods such as tablecloths and bead linen, as well as for wall hangings and other decorative items.
