The Crawford County Fair in Meadville, Pennsylvania, hosts rides, 4-H presentations and FFA events including livestock weigh-ins, pony shows and harness racing. The fair also holds special events and music concerts featuring artists such as Jake Owen, Justin Moore and Jeannie Seely.
The Crawford County Fair opens every August in Pennsylvania and holds events over the course of a week. Crawford County Fair is one of the largest agricultural fairs east of the Mississippi River. It is also among the oldest fairs in the state of Pennsylvania. Over 31,000 people attended the Crawford County Fair's first opening on Sept. 25, 1946.
One of the main purposes of the Crawford County Fair is to allow 4-H and FFA members to share the projects they have worked on throughout the year. The 4-H displays include rabbit showmanship and fitting, dairy showmanship, and cattle judging. FFA events include swine showmanship and fitting, an FFA junior dairy show, horse shows, and an FFA star farmer contest.
There are also demonstrations such as flower arranging, tractor pulls, bull riding and barrel racing. Judges participate in food contests and rate foods such as maple syrup, honey and other canned goods. Typical fair food is also available such as chili dogs, cotton candy, fudge and hamburgers.
