The Amelia Concours d'Elegance usually includes car shows, an auction, a silent auction and seminars based around classic, rare and elegant vehicles of historical significance to motorcar racing. All of the events and vehicles vary from year to year, depending on the entrants and themes of the annual showcase at the Ritz-Carlton on Amelia Island, Florida.
Car shows at the 2015 event included the free non-competitive viewing of around 300 cars brought by local owners and clubs at Cars & Coffee at the Concours. The free show usually has Corvettes, Ferraris, BMWs and a fleet of muscle cars. Shows requiring admission often include exhibits by famous racing teams and organizations, including Mercedes-Benz, Formula 1, the Italian Grand Prix and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.
The auction of collector automobiles is sponsored by RM Sotheby's, as of 2015. The sale is typically stocked with blue-chip vehicles. The previews are open to the public, but the auction is restricted to qualified media, approved bidders and consignors. A silent auction of racing collectibles and memorabilia to benefit a designated charity is also held.
The seminars encompass a wide variety of topics and typically feature celebrity guest speakers. Past topics have included Buick's famous Y-Job and the evolution of the Porsche 911. "The Car Guy" Barry Maguire, Velocity Network's Bob Scanlon, and broadcaster and championship-winning racer Tommy Kendall have appeared as hosts and panelists.
