There is no “Eragon 2” as of 2015, and Fox, the movie’s producer, has not announced plans for a sequel. ”Eragon,” based on the first book of Christopher Paolini’s “Inheritance Cycle,” received poor reviews when it was released in December 2006.
Critics lambasted “Eragon” upon its release, and the film ranked as one of the worst-rated releases of the year. According to Rotten Tomatoes, just 16 percent of critics gave the film favorable reviews, with the rest being neutral or negative. In spite of poor reviews, the film was not actually a box office flop, earning nearly $250 million worldwide against a budget of $100 million. However, “Eragon” was not the start of a massively successful fantasy franchise in the vein of “Harry Potter,” as Fox hoped it would be, making the possibility of a sequel uncertain.
