Dwayne Johnson is an actor, producer and semi-retired wrestler. He is often referred to by his WWE name, The Rock. He has appeared in numerous Hollywood films including "The Scorpion King," "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," "San Andreas," "Get Smart" and "The Rundown."
Johnson was born in Hayword, California in 1972. He played football at the University of Miami before playing briefly with the Calgery Stampeders as part of the Canadian Football League. After being cut from the Canadian league in 1995, Johnson followed in his father's footsteps and became a professional wrestler.
Johnson made his film debut in 2001, with a brief appearance in the movie "The Mummy Returns. The cameo landed him the lead role in the spin-off movie "The Scorpion King." With an income of $5.5 million for the role, he received the 2007 Guiness World Record for being the highest paid actor in their first starring role. In 2015, he secured another Guiness World Record for taking the most selfies in three minutes.
Johnson co-wrote his autobiography "The Rock Says" which reached number one on the New York Times Bestselling list. He is also founder of the Dwayne Johnson Rock Foundation, an organization that helps at-risk and terminally ill children. As of 2015, Johnson has one daughter, Simone Alexandra.
