What Is the Downton Abbey Schedule for Season Five?

The eight-episode fifth season of "Downton Abbey" premiered in the United Kingdom on Sept. 21, 2014 and aired weekly, with the season finale airing on Nov. 9, 2014. In the United States, the fifth season premiered on Jan. 4, 2015 and also aired weekly, with the season finale airing on Feb. 22, 2015. A special Christmas episode aired on Dec. 25, 2014 in the United Kingdom and on March 1, 2015 in the United States.

Season five of "Downton Abbey" takes place from February to December of 1924. Episodes aired on Sunday nights in both the United Kingdom and the United States. Major storylines of the season include Edith Crawley's pregnancy with Michael Gregson, Mary Crawley's relationships and the effect of Rose MacClare and Jack Ross calling off their engagement. The show's stars in this season included Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter and Raquel Cassidy. The show's creator, Julian Fellowes, reprised his role as writer.

While the show was successful commercially and critically, it received its lowest average number of viewers since the first season. It received several awards and nominations, including Emmy award nominations for outstanding drama series, outstanding actor and outstanding actress, a People's Choice award nomination for favorite network television drama, and a National Television Award for best drama.
