Authorities arrested Dog the Bounty Hunter on accusations that he illegally kidnapped cosmetics heir Andrew Luster in Mexico. Mexican authorities charged Duane Chapman, who is also known as Dog the Bounty Hunter, in 2003, but he skipped his court date after posting bail, which led to an arrest warrant.
Puerto Vallarta authorities charged Chapman shortly after Chapman detained Luster. After Chapman located and detained Luster, Mexican authorities demanded that Chapman deliver Luster to Mexican authorities. Because Chapman refused, Mexican law enforcement charged Chapman with illegal kidnapping.
Chapman did not act alone, and he also faced charges for conspiracy. Authorities also arrested Chapman's son Leland Chapman and Chapman's television production assistant and friend Timothy Chapman, no relation. Despite ultimately facing charges, Chapman's arrest of Luster shot Chapman to media fame, and he appeared on a reality television show that followed his bounty hunting while documenting family relationships.
