Odysseus died when he was stabbed with a spear by Telegonus, the son of Odysseus and Circe. Telegonus did not know he was stabbing his father.
Odysseus and Circe had several children together. While Odysseus was shipwrecked on the island of Ithaca, Circe sent Telegonus to look for his father. When Telegonus arrived, Odysseus attempted to protect the land. Telegonus stabbed him with a spear made from the spine of a stingray. After Odysseus died, his son buried him on Aeaea, an island located between the straits of Sicily and Italy. Telegonus later married Penelope, and both of them were given immortality by the gods.
