The O. Henry Prize Stories is an annual collection of the best stories written in English and published in Canadian and American magazines. Starting in 2003, the collection has been dedicated to a writer who has made a significant contribution to the art of the short stories; it was first dedicated to the Canadian writer Mavis Gallant. The O. Henry Prize Stories were first established by the Twilight Club in New York in 1918, eight years after the death of William Porter, whose pen name was O. Henry.
