In April 2013, NBC announced Jimmy Fallon would become the host of "The Tonight Show" when Jay Leno retired, and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" debuted on February 17, 2014. Fallon brought the show back to New York from California.
Fallon started on television in 1998 on "Saturday Night Live," where he appeared for six years. In 2009, he began his career on late night talk shows when he began "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." The show received several Emmy Award nominations, and Fallon won the People's Choice Award for favorite late-night talk show host in 2012 and 2013. In 2013, he won a Grammy Award for a musical comedy album featuring his collaborations with famous artists on "Late Night."
