American NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson married former model Chandra Janway on December 11, 2004. As of January 2016, the couple resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with their two daughters, Genevieve and Lydia.
Johnson was born on September 17, 1975, in El Cajon, California, where he started racing motorcycles at the age of four. Janway was born on July 16, 1978, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2000. After graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career and was hired by Wilhelmina Models.
Johnson met Janway in 2002 through fellow NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon. The couple got engaged in 2003 while on a snowboarding trip in Colorado. They were married on the Caribbean island of St. Barts in 2004. Janway gave birth to their first child, Genevieve Marie, on July 7, 2010. Their second daughter, Lydia Norriss, was born on September 6, 2013.
Johnson is a six-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion. He drives the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports. In 2006, Johnson and Janway launched the Jimmie Johnson Foundation, which helps children, families and communities in need. The foundation has committed more than $8.8 million to various charities.
