Restaurant owners Scott Conant and Chris Cannon had a high-profile dissolution of their business partnership that was reported on colloquially as a "divorce" by some sources. As of August 2015, Conant is still married to his first wife Meltem, with whom he has two daughters.
Conant is a celebrity chef and restaurant owner. He formerly owned the restaurants Alto and L'Impero in New York City jointly with fellow high-profile professional chef and restaurateur Chris Cannon. The two reportedly split over differences about expanding and making changes, with Conant pushing for the new developments and Cannon wanting to maintain the status quo.
Cannon ended up buying out Conant's part of each restaurant, but not without some controversy. The two took some public shots at each other after the split, with Conant calling the new management of the two restaurants "incompetent." The pair then filed lawsuits against each other over unpaid compensation, breach of contract and defamation. The litigation lasted for three years before a judge decided that neither party met their burden of proof and threw both suits out. Cannon went on to have a similar breakup with his new partners. Although he retained ownership of both restaurants after the split, he closed them in 2011.
