Melania Knauss married Donald Trump on Jan. 22, 2005, in Palm Beach, Florida. The wedding reception was held in the 17,000-square foot ballroom of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.
The ceremony featured a Scripture reading by Donald Trump's oldest daughter, Ivanka. Wedding guests included Katie Couric, Kelly Ripa, Star Jones, Barbara Walters and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. Food served at the reception included steamed shrimp salad, beef tenderloin, caviar, lobster rolls and Grand Marnier chocolate truffle cake along with Cristal champagne. Billy Joel reportedly sang for the crowd at the reception; songs included "Just the Way You Are" and a version of "The Lady Is a Tramp" with lyrics amended so that they were about Donald Trump.
Knauss' wedding dress was designed by the House of Christian Dior's John Galliano and was featured in Vogue magazine prior to the wedding. The dress required close to 300 feet of material, which included a 13-foot train and a 16-foot veil. The dress also reportedly took 1,000 hours to make, with 550 hours required just to hand-stitch crystal rhinestones and pearls in a swirl pattern. At the time of the wedding, Donald Trump was 58 years old and Melania was 34.
