According to RealityTVWorld.com, Paige Davis performed a simulated striptease during the “Broadway Bares” AIDS fundraiser in 2004. Reports claim Davis performed her routine wearing a V-neck sundress which she pulled up to reveal her thong underneath. One person at the event also mentioned that some men began to stuff money in both the top and bottom parts of her clothing. The original report came from The New York Post, but the article is no longer available online as of 2015.
Davis later responded to The New York Post’s story on the TLC message boards. Her response noted that she dressed in a very modest yellow dress that cut to her sternum. She admitted to flipping her skirt for a second and collecting money in a pretend-stripper fashion. Davis also claimed that she kept on all of her clothes during the event, and that The New York Post exaggerated the story.
Soon after Davis’ response, Star magazine released three color photos of her pretend striptease. One censored picture included her flipped skirt antics, which confirmed some of The New York Post’s previous story. TLC later removed Davis from her hosting duties in “Trading Spaces.” Both Davis and the network claimed the decision was not due to the controversies. The decision came as a result of TLC looking to revamp the show without a host.
